About Bergen Hjelper Ukraina

Our Organization

"Bergen Hjelper Ukraina" is a purely voluntary initiative that started as a spontaneous response to the tragic events of February 2022. From the very first days, when Fyllingsdalen Teater in Bergen converted its premises into a humanitarian warehouse, we have grown from a local initiative to become one of Norway's most comprehensive private aid efforts.

Our structure and partners: We are proud to be an initiative run entirely by volunteers. Our activities are coordinated by Fyllingsdalen Teater, which acts as our central logistics hub. We have established close and crucial collaboration with key partners in the local community, especially Magneten Frivilligsentral in Fyllingsdalen and Bømlo Frivilligsentral. These partnerships enable us to mobilize hundreds of volunteers, organize fundraising and ensure that aid arrives safely.

What we do: We have collected and sent dozens of truckloads of life-saving relief supplies – hundreds of tons of food, medicine, hygiene products, heating equipment (such as generators and firewood), children’s equipment and much more. We are also focusing on delivering specialized aid, such as ambulances and advanced medical equipment, directly to the regions of Ukraine where the need is greatest. Our team of volunteers works tirelessly to ensure that every donation reaches its goal.

We are always open to new volunteers and partners. If you would like to contribute, whether with time, resources or expertise, please contact us. Together we can continue to bring hope and real help to those in need.

Our Mission

Our mission is to deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. We work to alleviate suffering, restore dignity and deliver relief through direct, effective and targeted support. We are driven by the belief that all people deserve to live in safety and have access to basic needs, and our work is a direct expression of this.

We operate on the principles of transparency, efficiency, and direct action. Every donated item and every penny goes directly to meet the precarious needs of Ukrainians – from food and medicine to aggregates and social support. We have a special focus on the most vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly, to ensure their protection and access to necessary resources.

Our vision extends beyond the immediate crisis; we want to contribute to long-term reconstruction and resilience, helping communities get back on their feet. We continually seek innovative ways to maximize our impact and adapt to the changing needs on the ground.
